Bintan Island - Retreat

Ok so last week the company that I attached with, the bosses decided to have staff retreat! So we went to Pulau Bintan; Bintan Island in Indonesia. It's located on the south east of Singapore! Just on the right side of Batam Island.

I was really impressed by the ferry; when I came out from Immigration, the resort is just right in front of me! I was like WOW! Well anyway the officer almost stop me because he thought I went to the wrong queue, and I was like, "I'm Indonesian!!" and he let me go. Perhaps they hardly get Indonesia tourist and majority are non-Indo.

The resort was nice. We were staying in Bintan Lagoon Resort. But the ferry I could say it's pretty much expensive, it costs about SGD 80 per person!!

On the day we arrived actually the weather was so good! The sky was super blue, really really blue. It matches the sea color and it blends perfectly. The perfect blue sky and sea. Here's some pic to increase the jealousy.

The first day we were just chillax, nothing good to do. While waiting for check-in time we decided to go for massage! Since it's 7 of us, the massage place provide complimentary pick up and drop off at our hotel. When we reached there, my eyes almost popped up because all the price are really expensive! Just for 90 min massage I spent IDR 630K. Unbelievable right. I could get full treatment with that price! And apparently the massage was not that great, the massager didn't hit the spot at all. It was none, zero. Disappointing.

Then we decided to buy some groceries and local number in shop nearby there. And we went back to hotel, just for a safety precaution for my colleagues who were not get used with unhygienic food and we had lunch in hotel. The view was perfect. But the food it just so so. Nothing really excites me.

In the evening we went to beach, relaxing and it was really awesome. I did some silly stuffs with colleagues and we had the opening of our retreat by the beach; while some of us in the water and freezing. It was really interesting.

Dinner we went to restaurant that is located quite far, about 40 minutes drive from our resort, I ordered quite numbers of food. And it costed about SGD 270 for 9 pax. Food I ordered were crabs, flower crabs, crayfish, gong gong, fish, etc and it's all double portion. The food was great and the place too. It's at the lake side.

Second day. Unbelievably the villa didn't come with breakfast. So we had ala carte breakfast. Well, since I'm not a big eater in the morning, I didn't mind just to have a bread and milk in morning. After breakfast we had whole day session for company vision, discussion, etc. I was so drained in the evening, my brain was fried. So I decided to take rest in the villa while all of them playing at the pool.
And we had supper actually in the bar and short drinking session followed by another drinking session and blackjack in the men's villa.

Last day. We woke up late. Had brunch and after that check out and relaxing at the pool side while waiting for the ferry in the evening. The ferry in the evening was a nightmare, I almost puking because the waves was too strong, I forced myself to sleep. And the journey was about 1 1/2 hours. :( But we all reach Singapore safely! Reached Singapore, the haze smell was back!

Overall, it was really a great trip, keep aside all the creepy things happened and the food. The people that I work with, they are really awesome. As the company growing and moving forward, I really wish to be able to be part of it. And I feel I'm totally blessed, indeed God's blessings are really awesome! :)

For me, one time visit to Bintan and that's all. I will reconsider to visit again in future. Even though it's near with Singapore but it's kinda over budget (if I have to travel by myself and in my own spending). It's really a lovely place and worth while to visit just once. My second time, perhaps will be next few years I guess.
