It has been 8 years and counting since I live overseas. At first I really enjoyed it because I'm experiencing something new. But until recently, I just want to get out from such an organized place. It drives me mad, sometimes. Most of times. I just dislike being in Singapore, my second home, the place I currently live and my homebase for my living.
Currently I'm in Bali and I've been driving since yesterday. I have to admit I enjoyed so much all the messy road, I didn't fasten seat belt, I know its wrong but there are many people include tourist who doesnt wear helmet when they ride motor bike. I felt happy when I see the messiness. I have no ideas how to explain this feelings especially after travelling to different cities worldwide and also live in a country that has a very strong laws and everything so organized.
Well, its kinda weird but it breaks all my nerves that I have to follow the rules. It reminds me that it is alright to break the laws because it meant to be broken.
Cheers!!

[Diary]: Relaxing by the beach - Bali
So recently I'm kinda facing a depression which I didn't think it doesn't hit me. But actually it does, without realizing it. I talked with my friend, and she said she was there too. She experienced it. The depression is kinda being lonely, because after flight I just felt so tired, so next thing I wanted to do just to sleep until I feel satisfied. And I'd rather be at home because Singapore's weather always so humid and hot, I can't bear to go outside.
After away for few trips, of course there are numbers of house chores need to be done. From laundry, cooking, tidying up stuff, ironing clothes, pack and unpack luggages and many more. Hence I'd prefer to be at home doing these things and I did enjoy it at first.
Without realizing it, it started to consume me even further. It made me lazy to go out to see some friends, or just to hang out with my bf. Furthermore when I had a bad flight, it just adding up more and more. Suddenly, I just felt so tired with everything, with flying, with work, tired of doing house chores again and again. Hardly meet up with friends because of schedule. It consumed me.
Consumed me too much.
I met with consultant (provided by the company that I worked with) about my problems. And the lady mentioned, are you lonely? My answer was "No". I was in self-denial. After 1 hour session, I walked and gave it a thought. Am I really lonely?
Apparently the answer is Yes. I am lonely because I've got no one to talk besides my mum and bf, without realizing it, actually it is not healthy. I don't meet my church friend because I always away on weekend and during weekdays they are working. Working life in Singapore is tough. After work, you just want to go back home and rest.
It affected me until I didn't feel like to go for 10 days flight as it's gonna be so long and I don't think I could take it. But also, I've got a thought that I want to go Bali to see beach, my favorite place. I love beach. So I've made a plan to go to Bali and asked my brother's gf to come along. Apparently she agreed :)
Throughout the flight, I talked with new friends and also not too new friend and I realized, yes I am lonely. I need someone to talk with besides these people, even though it's kinda hard to make friends with crew but some of them really nice, they told me if I need friends to talk with or to meet with, just contact them. I am really touched and blessed.
Indeed, God is good. He provides me with these good people around me and also until the flight ends. I don't feel lonely anymore. In fact, currently I'm at Finn's Beach Club, enjoying the beach view, listen to the waves sounds, children's playing and laughing, many more.
Of course, throughout the 10 days flight, I prayed to God, every night just listened to Christians' songs :)
I'm glad that I have a good Father in heaven that always watch after me and protect me.
'till then~

[Foodie]: Making of Kombucha
Hello hello! It's really been a while since the last time I write. Well, procrastinating too long.
For this post, I just want to share about Kombucha. I didn't know anything about Kombucha until I saw some Instagram post of the fashion people that I follow; Chriselle Lim. But, I didn't really bother much. Then, I also saw in my friend's instagram and path, seems it's a very unique stuff. Again, I didn't bother.
Out of curiosity, I met with Jesslyn when I was in London and she shared with me some stuff. That's where she mentioned again about Kombucha. I was reading how to make it but seems it's quite difficult to get the ingredients in Singapore, especially the Scoby. Even though it may exist, but it could be just expensive. So, she gave me her scoby and a little bit of Kombucha to fill the jar with scoby.
1. Brew tea in a jar
You may only use black tea, green tea or rooibos tea. Do not use any other kind of tea as their herbs could kill the bacteria that helps to grow your Kombucha.
2. Add sugar
Add lots of sugar. Again, this is my habit, I don't have any measuring, I just pour the sugar and make sure it's sweet. It's best to avoid any metal contamination to your tea. You may spin the jar, twirl and make sure the sugar are mixed well.
3. Cool down
Let the tea cool down to room temperature, you may have to wait about up to 2 hours. Or if you are in a rush, you may cool it down in freezer about 20 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye on it!
4. Add SCOBY
Just put the scoby in the jar of room temperature tea.
5. Add previous batch Kombucha OR Apple Vinegar
As I had the previous batch, so I used it and it works well. Further more, the SCOBY grows!
If you only have the Scoby, you may want to add Apple Vinegar as the starter. Your first batch taste will be a little bit weird and a bit nasty but the second batch will be back to normal taste.
6. Cover the jar lid with cloth and rubber band
After all done, cover the top and keep it in the room temperature and dark place. For me, I place it inside a cabinet in the kitchen. As for my friend, she put it on top of her fridge. Either or, whatever that may suits you.
1. By mixing the brewed tea and Kombucha (without any SCOBY)
You may follow the steps on the above, however do not add SCOBY - perhaps you may not have. But you HAVE to ADD the previous batch of Kombucha. I did about 1/2 brewed tea and 1/2 Kombucha.
I left it for 7 days and I had about 1/4 inches of SCOBY.
In some articles that I read, some Kombucha may not grow especially if you purchase it from a store. In States they were controlling the amount of yeast as it may have alcohol contained, hence it's very difficult to grow the SCOBY from Kombucha store-purchased. If you get the Kombucha from your friend whom regularly make Kombucha, then go ahead to do this step.
2. Make a SCOBY hotel
If you have like few SCOBY and don't know where to keep it yet you just want to brew a little bit. Scoby hotel is a great alternative, besides to keep the Scoby, you may grow it too.
I just put Kombucha (pure Kombucha - no additional fresh tea / flavor) into a container and keep it in my room temperature cabinet.
Left if for a week and it grows about 1/2 cm, it's quite slow but at least it works
What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a fermented tea, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks that are commonly used as functional beverages for their unsubstantiated health benefits.
It's also considered as a probiotic beverages.
How does it taste like?
For the first time, of course it is weird. I found it like a spoilt sour-sweet tea with some soda. It does sounds disgusting right? But, after few times, my tongue is able to adjust to its flavor.
What is SCOBY?
SCOBY is Symbiosis Colony of Bacteria and Yeast. Ikr, it sounds like what? A colony? But trust me, these stuff are the one that fermented the tea. I'm not really good with science but the Kombucha could be made as the SCOBY eats the sugar (sweet) in the tea and turns into sour flavor and also some effervescent.
When to throw the SCOBY?
You may throw it when the SCOBY turns brown, the new one should like a broken white color. To get best result, it is always recommended to use the fresh one!
Is it hard to make Kombucha?
At first I thought it will be complicated, however the steps are really simple. Perhaps when you watch any video in YouTube will give you some slight idea how to do it.
If you would like to explore more with Kombucha, it is always best to have some reading materials. Here are my sources:

I have read on some sources to get Kombucha in Singapore however seems it is not too popular yet and also could be quite expensive. If you are based in Singapore and would like to get a Kombucha and SCOBY, do email me and I'll sell to you some of mine :)
'til then~

[Flying Journey]: In the Middle of the World - Dubai
Finally I have mood to write again :) Working on my consistency..
Ok, so this time I was in Dubai for about 8 days, it was quite long trip.. I didn't manage to do Desert Safari, I wish I could.. Didn't visit Abu Dhabi.. O well, I have to keep it until next trip!
But, let me just show you for all the mainstream stuff in Dubai!

But, let me just show you for all the mainstream stuff in Dubai!
Burj Khalifa!
with Vini & Bene both of them based in Dubai
I got to know her from interview and we still keep contact. It was really nice of her to pick me up from hotel and she brought me around. It was my first time hang out with her too but we were totally get along really well!
:)
See how huge the Aquarium is!
The following day, I went to visit Burj Khalifa level 124 if I'm not mistaken. It costed me about 200 dirham. It was only to go up, see the Dubai skyline. Nothing more. Well of course, souvenirs shop.
Night view - I would really love to stay until it's totally dark but I have to follow majority :(
This was my very last day, so I decided to walk around by myself, took metro, tram and monorail just to get to Palm Jumeirah. I just want to see the palm island which I thought it was going to be something like Sentosa.
However, after long journey nearly 2 hours, quite disappointed that I couldn't do anything over there. Not even get into the Water Park as it's the limited area (you have to pay!) :(
When I saw the map actually Burj Al-Arab is nearby and I really want to catch sunset picture over there. Alas, I had promised my friend that I will meet her at Dubai Mall to see the fountain. Too bad, but I hope next trip I will be able to do so.
Here's the picture, mostly are just view.. :)
Entering Palm Jumeirah - I was in Monorail
It was quite a long walk from Tram to Monorail, about 10-15 minutes passing by car park area.
Amazed with these houses
The Atlantis
I didn't take any picture at Palm Jumeirah. Well, when I was there I was thinking to just spend for red bus sightseeing, however the timing wasn't match. If you paid for this service, yes you could see around the Atlantis area. I guess next time I'll do that
I didn't realize I was sitting in the Gold Class
Amazing eh?
I met my friend at Dubai Mall again then we took picture again! I know this trip was like a nonstop being in mall. I could really say that Dubai is kinda expensive or perhaps because I always ate in mall. :(
Fountain show
Most of my picture was taken by Iphone5 and Olympus EPL6. You can see from the picture result actually :)
'til next destination~

[Flying Journey]: Ah, finally I can say Hi! to Big Ben
Yeay! It is really a dream come true to visit London, all the things that I've been looking in TV, magazines, pictures.. I'm so excited when I found out I had London flight and it is really one of flight I've been looking!
Since I have friend lives in Nottingham, she was willing to travel to London, stay one night with me. She brought me around London, and of course eat delicious foods too!
I guess, it's really always a struck when I saw beautiful part of Europe. Just the building itself really amuse me. I mean I can find those buildings somewhere in Indonesia (especially those old buildings left by Dutch), but in Indonesia those buildings are not well maintained so you wouldn't be able to see the beauty.
Ok, back to London. On the first day, my friend brought me around especially those tourist spots and also we had dinner at Ippudo!
So here we go for all the pictures on the first day! It was raining for whole morning, hence when it stops, blue skies! I was so blessed to be able to capture this beauty :)
On the 2nd day, I had breakfast with my friend at train station, we were exploring around the area. St Pancras and Kingscross station. Not only that, I managed to take picture at the Platform 9 3/4!
And now, the single traveller begins and all the weird pic that I tried to put myself (my head) into the picture :')

London Eye
Sok-sok candid
Silhouette of Big Ben
Went to M&Ms World! Biggest store I've seen!
Buckingham Palace filled with tourists
And of course me posing!
Soho! Next visit I'm so gonna watch this!
Je t'aime Amorino! Pick flavors as much as you want! Pistachio is a must!
Ippudo London~
On the 2nd day, I had breakfast with my friend at train station, we were exploring around the area. St Pancras and Kingscross station. Not only that, I managed to take picture at the Platform 9 3/4!
Brunch at Carluccio's, I have to admit their brunch are cheap, less than 10 bucks for all portion!
In front of St Pancras International (taken by Iphone5)
Free Coke~ Coke Life & Classic Coke
Inside St Pancras - I was just too amazed with its architectural
Yeay! Finally Platform 9 3/4! Next visit I'm so gonna wear Ravenclaw's!
And now, the single traveller begins and all the weird pic that I tried to put myself (my head) into the picture :')
While on my way to British Museum
British Museum entrance
Yeay! That's me - not so weird right?
View from bus - on my way to Trafalgar Square
If you asked me if I really prepared for this trip, I could say none. I'm really lazy to find out where to go those kind of stuff, I prefer to just go wherever I want, suddenly find ideas or research while I'm over there. Sometimes, I do regret for not doing research as I can even fully utilize my time. But, I guess I'm more enjoying to be spontaneous so I can control my expectation.
Not only that, I learnt to be more relax, not too intense in every single thing.
Trafalgar Square
London Eye in evening
Well yes, after I went all the way for each places, I went to see London Eye again and Big Ben just to catch its night view and lights. Sunset comes pretty late so I have to wait under cold weather, it was 18 celcius or even lower until I can't feel my finger. Summer but its cold.
After all my sacrifices, I felt proud of myself that I was brave enough and also thank God for His protection.
I was really happy that I had courage to travel around by myself, enjoy travel time by myself and I made it as starting point for more adventures to come.
Every time I feel discourage, I guess I should remember how this trip put up my courage.
That's me again! This time a Russian stranger helped me :)
See the beauty? :)
Ok, last pic~
'til next destination~
XOXO
Jess
